This course introduces the students to the theory and practice of strategic management with a view to building and applying skills in conceptualizing strategic planning and developing actual strategic plans for various organizational settings.

BULA4801 Legal Issues in Commercial Law

The course will cover the torts of negligence and its relevancy to the business activities or professionals in the business transactions;  products liability and its implications in the business; commercial contract, its formation, terms and how the contracts are discharged; dispute resolution methods that would be relevant in business, in particular arbitration; and intellectual property rights under the law of Sultanate of Oman.

BUFN 4702 FINANCIAL MARKETS AND INSTITUTIONS

This course focuses on the different types of financial markets and institutions and their role on promoting the efficiency of the economies. The course addresses how interest rate fluctuations affect the appraisal of financial securities and the work of financial institutions. The course extends further on examining the efficiency of the financial markets and the assessment of profitable investment opportunities in these markets

Course Description and Rationale

The nature of public relation, its goals, responsibilities and organization. Mechanism of public relations and how to collect data methods of revaluating executing, and controlling a suitable way of communication and its programs.

Course Aims and Objectives

This course aims to provide students with a thorough knowledge and understanding of public relations practices and a detailed insight into the practices of public relations at a professional level.

 

The objectives of the course are to:

·         Provide students with the historical development and theory of public relations.

·         Identify the common research methods used in public relations to plan for a research strategy.

·         Understand the implementation of the Strategic Communications Plan.

·         Explore the media communication in its entire forms- print, electronic, internet.

·         Provide knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, from drafting to style to ensuring worthwhile content.


RP4103A BUMG4103A  Resarch Project

The Research Project A course is designed to equip students with skills to develop a research proposal. The course covers the fundamentals of a research project such as research objectives and research questions, literature review, various elements of qualitative and quantitative methods, negotiating access, ethical issues, data collection and data analysis.

This aim of this course is to acquaint students with fundamentals of research methods to facilitate them to independently develop a viable research proposal The objectives are to:

 ·  Equip students with the relevant skills required to evaluate academic literature critically and types of research data.

·   Advance the capacity of the students to identify a relevant business-related research opportunity.

·   Build necessary skills to formulate research objectives and research questions.

·   Expose students to a range of research techniques and methodologies that can be applied to business research.

·   Make students aware of ethical issues associated with business research.

·   Develop students with the skills necessary to develop a viable business research proposal.
